Do You Want A Damon Braces Smile?

Our office is pleased to offer our patients Damon Smile braces. Damon braces use a slide mechanism to hold the archwire, reducing the amount of pressure exerted on the teeth and allowing the teeth to move more freely, quickly, and comfortably. Thanks to these innovative braces, achieving your perfect smile can be faster and easier than you ever thought possible!

Damon braces use a specialized slide in place of elastics to help the wire guide teeth in to place. These slides help reduce the amount of pressure being placed on the tooth. As a result, treatment with Damon Smile is often faster and requires fewer adjustments than traditional braces.

The Damon Smile facilitates healthy tooth movement which may minimize discomfort and create beautiful Damon Smiles that last a lifetime! Contact Poser Orthodontics to get started with Damon Braces in Germantown and Wauwatosa, WI.

How Important Is Orthodontics For Your Health?

We know how important it is to regularly visit the dentist to stay on top of our dental and oral health and goals. Dental treatment not only keeps teeth clean, fresh and cavity free, it also helps to monitor the health of the mouth and gums to note issues quickly should they arise.

Just as important as preventative dental treatment, however, is corrective orthodontic treatment – and orthodontics involves much more than a purely cosmetic undertaking.

Did you know...

Orthodontics was the first specialty to arise in the field of dentistry and there is evidence that people even used a version of this more than 2000 ago; ancient mummified remains have been found with metal bands wrapped around individual teeth.

What does orthodontics involve?

Orthodontic treatment involves the correction of misaligned jaws and crooked teeth, and not only ultimately results in a beautiful smile, but also maximizes your overall health and well-being. Misalignment of the bite and teeth, while not a disease in itself, can regardless lead to an array of health problems that over time become chronic and can impact much further throughout the body than just within the mouth.

As well as correcting dental displacement, orthodontics can also be employed to control and modify the growth of the facial bones in order to manage craniofacial abnormalities that may be present from birth or acquired through accident or misadventure.

Orthodontics can benefit you for a healthier, happier life.

Merry Christmas!

Take some time this holiday season to be appreciative of those who work when they should be with family and friends, those who are away from those they love, and those who sacrifice for our needs.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May this Christmas find you surrounded by those you love, filled with a lot of fun and cheer, and the New Year bring happiness, health, and prosperity.

Questions About Finances?

When you consider the cost of orthodontic treatment, also consider the lifelong benefits of a beautiful, healthy smile. The cost of orthodontic treatment will depend on many factors, including the severity of the problem, its complexity and length of treatment.

For your convenience, we do offer different methods of payment, including interest-free monthly payment plans and credit card payments. We will discuss these payment options and assist in determining the best plan for you.

Our office will assist those who have orthodontic insurance by submitting the necessary information. Insurance companies vary greatly in the type and extent of coverage available.

Most misunderstandings about insurance can be eliminated if you are familiar with your policy:
  • Be sure that you do have orthodontic coverage. Not all dental plans provide orthodontic benefits.
  • Inquire if there is an age limitation as some orthodontic plans can expire at age 18.
  • Be aware of the percentage which will be paid by your insurance and the amount of lifetime benefits provided by your plan.

What To Eat When You Get Braces

Just get braces? You may notice that your mouth feels a little different after they’re first put on. To make your transition a little smoother, you may want to change your eating habits for the first few days while you get used to your new braces. We at Poser Orthodontics want to make things easier on our new patients, so below you will find some suggestions for the best kinds of foods to eat when you first get braces.

1. Have a smoothie. Smoothies are great option for a delicious meal in a glass, offering a convenient, balanced option. Throw whatever you like in a blender, add protein to make it more filling and even try a handful of spinach— if the smoothie is made right, you won’t even taste it!

2. Think soft. The first day or so of having your new braces on will mean you may not feel like chewing a whole lot. But that’s fine–try something soft but delicious like tender turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. Soups, chili, pudding, oatmeal and yogurt are all good choices during your first few days with braces.

3. Easy to chew. A steak dinner is not the best thing to have at your “congratulations on getting your braces” dinner. But meat shouldn’t be off the table completely–how about some shaved turkey cold cuts?

4. Try new things. Having to change up what you eat for a few days is the perfect excuse to try some new foods–how about a soft cheese you haven’t had before, like Munster or Brie? How about a new smoothie recipe for breakfast? Baked apples for a snack or dessert? You may end up discovering a new staple for your everyday diet.

5. Stay healthy. Don’t fall into the ice cream trap. Sure, it’s good for a treat, but it won’t give you the nourishment you need to look and feel your best. Eating soft food doesn’t mean eating unhealthy.

Lastly, remember to stay hydrated and drink lots of water throughout the day, avoiding pop and sugary drinks as your teeth are even more susceptible to cavities when you have braces.
